Good news today – Apple have announced the long awaited update to their Final Cut Studio software.
Final Cut Studio 3 contains over 100 new features including new versions of the ProRes codec, Blu Ray support options within Compressor and a wide range of new supported capture formats in Final Cut Pro (7) itself.
Availability is within 1 week from Apple Stores and resellers.

Why the interest I hear you say? I’m a stills photographer, but I have been working with Final Cut for a couple of years and I predict that within the next couple of years, 30 – 50% of all Pro Photographers are going to be working with video in some form as a part of their regular work – Final Cut Studio, alongside Adobe’s Premiere Pro are the best apps out their for video from a photographer’s perspective: familiar and intuitive, like their cousins, Aperture and Photoshop respectively.
